Sorry!

Hello There Ladies!

I am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

We are not going to be posting for a little bit now. We are cleaning up our blogs and giving them a "professional" touch. Just wait till you see them ladies! They are going to look GOOD! I will continue to watch our email and Etsy accounts, but I will not be posting for a little bit. It won't be to long. Maybe a week or two, but believe me it will be worth it.

Our Chickens Ran Free!

Hello Ladies!

Today our babies got a chance to run around. Not Moe or Stevi of course, Stevi is just to little, and we want Moe to be a little more comfortable with the yard first. But Cher, Dianna, and Cyndi got a chance out of the pen. It was their first time and Mom let them play for about 15 minutes. We didn't want to chance longer than that because they are still small and look to much like birds for us to trust our cats or dog.

But even though they are small they are still so big compared to what they did look like. I promise pictures ASAP ladies! I can't wait for you to see them plus I have a video to show you of Moe swimming in the bath tub first at 1 week old and then at 3 weeks old. It is amazing the difference 2 weeks makes! He is now soooo big!

Well I'm off now dearies! See you later!

Don't buy baby chicks!

Hello Ladies!

I have some bad news. I told you last week in our August update that we would be getting another Blue Swedish Duck and 2 Silver Sebright chicks. Well lets just say that all did not go according to plan. The duck and 1 Sebright died before we even picked them up from the store.

As it turns out this has been a problem lately for the store. You may know this store, we have mentioned it before. It is called Russell Feed and Supply. Now before I go on let me make sure we are clear on this. It is not this stores fault! The employees at Russell's are some of the nicest people we know and they would never do anything to harm any of the animals they keep. The problem instead lies with the company that sends them the birds.

Ideal Poultry is a company who sells baby chickens, ducks, geese, guineas, and turkeys. They have been in business since 1937. Until recently we have had no problems with them. But now we have found out that Ideal Poultry does not have its own mail transportation. Now I know that sounds like its not a problem, but it is. You see the same day a baby chick is hatched from its egg it goes into a box with however many more chickens you or the store has ordered. That is not just Ideal Poultry that is basically any company that sells 1 day old baby chicks. But Ideal Poultry's problem is that they send these babies out in a box to be put in a non-temperature controlled mail carrier car. If it is Summer it gets to hot for them, if it is Winter they can quite easily freeze.

If Ideal Poultry would get transportation vehicles for their company then this probably would not happen. But sadly, as this is not the case we need to take action. I now ask you this question. Can you wait to order your new babies until Spring or Autumn? Because if you don't then there is a big chance they are not going to make it home with you if they haven't already died in the store. I know that there are some exceptions. Like Moe, our duck, for example. But that doesn't mean that it is safe to order these babies. Animal babies are as fragile as human babies. They can very easily get to hot or to cold. So please before you order any babies in the Winter or Summer think first. If you live in a place where extreme weather is not a problem then go for it. But as you know we live in Texas. Texas is where it can be a scorching 115 degrees Fahrenheit in the Summer and 10 below zero in the Winter.

So again please, think before you order chicks, ducks, geese, guineas, or turkey babies!

August Update

Listen up here Ladies!

I haven't talked to y'all in a while so I figured we need to have a chat.

We should start with our newest addition to the family. Our Blue Swedish Duck is doing well and now has a name. Mom has named him Moe. LOL! When we get the next duck tomorrow it will have a name too. Our little girl duck will be named Mimi. As you already know we also have two precious little Sebrights coming in tomorrow too. One will have the name Stevi, in honor of Stevi Nicks. The other we haven't decided on yet, but we are thinking. It is going to be another Rock Star name so if you have any in mind (other than Cher, Diana, Stevi, and Cyndi) we would love to hear from you in the comments section.

Another topic is that of the wonderful holiday coming up soon. HALLOWEEN! As you may already know our family does themes for Halloween. This years theme is renaissance. I may already have a costume idea. I have this habit of not liking to spend to much money, and I will search for any alternative to spending a lot. Well seek and you shall find dear friends! I searched and searched for cheap renaissance costumes. Now as you probably know renaissance dresses are not easy to find cheap, (I am talking nice enough looking ones, not weird looking plastic things) but I persisted. Check this out! My Possible Costume I really like this costume! And it is only $24.99! WHOOOOOOOO-HOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry had to get that out! Anyway what do you ladies think? I would love to hear your opinion and if you have any suggestions I would love those too.

Let's see we have talked about Halloween, Ducks, Chickens, hmmmmmm.... There was something else..... OH YEAH! THE HART FAMILY WILL SOON BE GOING ON A VACATION!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!! WHOOOO-HOOOOO!!!! We will soon be heading off to a  the lovely Corpus Christi, TX! I love the beach and just can't wait! We will go sometime in Autumn, and yes ladies I will take many pictures.

Speaking of pictures in our update here I desided to stop procrastinating and put the pictures of the bread we baked on this post. Sorry it took so long ladies! I am going to start putting the pics up sooner LOL.

The picture above and below were both Rosemary Bread.
Remember we made these from scratch completely.

The picture above was just regular bread, but it was
                     still amazingly good.

Remember if you want to learn how to bake this amazing bread do what we did. We bought the West Ladies bread-making DVD. They made it so easy and so fun that we just had to try. And it did turn out just as easy and fun as we had hoped. I loved making it and so did Mom and the girls. If you would like to visit the West Ladies head on over to their website Homestead-Blessings. We have bought several of their DVDs and have loved all of them. They help beginners by making it as easy as possible.

Well I think thats all for now but I can always blog later can't I?

Thans for visiting lovely ladies!

Cassandra ♥
